Practice adventure, saltspring island

So, with a bed and breakfast booked on saltspring island, we ride the 35 minute ferry and ride through fulford harbor in search of the seahorse bnb.  Failing to find it, lead us back to ferry terminal where fearless, aka Douglas,  headed off on foot.  Turns out that the bnb was only a half block up the hill, no sign, and our room had  been given to random strangers.   Not to be deterred,  we rode across the island to meet up with friend John at his  boat, scoring the last and nicest room at the only hotel on the island. A great visit over dinner at the oyster at her,   walk around the village and we called the day done.  So far it is all working out just fine.  Weather tomorrow should be good for a boat

Day 6 of Retirement

Odd to think that after 40 plus years of work, here I am sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee and no timetable at 11:30 on a Wednesday morning.  Of course this may only be day 2 of retirement as I have had Fridays as vacation days for this year,  then it was a weekend followed by a stat holiday on Monday.  So, I have no idea what retirement is like, or what it is going to be like.

Today has been an outdoor day,  weeding and trimming.  The roses are gorgeous, and inspire me to re pot the indoor plants, all of which are looking  stressed.

Administrative duties outstanding for this afternoon include  obtaining travel medical insurance to replace the coverage I have had through work for the last years.   I understand this could be expensive, but well  worth it.

What lies ahead?

Retirement Looms
14 more sleeps
8 more alarms

How odd will my new life be?
How will I organize my time?
How many books will I have going at any one time?
What trips will I take?
These are some of the questions whirling around in my head.
